If you would like to see photos of the entire teardrop build they are part of a teardrop trailer photo gallery.
To view photos you must first join the forum(for free)at:

After you join you can look at the Hall Of Fame in the upper left hand corner. Scroll down until you see Barb B's td. You can then look through the many pages of photos as I progressed through the teardrop build.

Plenty of windows for air and light!
There is a window in each door and two windows up front. They are crank out windows. The best feature of a window of this type is they can be open in the rain. I installed door stops so when the windows are open on the doors they will not gouge the nice oak sides. When towing the up-front windows are protected by a shutter. In camp the shutter turns into an awning for you.
I recently switched out the white ceiling crank vent for a clear one and added a MaxxAir cover. THe cover allows you to have the vent open in the rain, even while towing.
The galley area.
Sleeping cabin holds a queen bed.
There are two doors allowing cabin access on both sides of the camper. Doors are 24" wide by 30" high. They have household locking door knobs that are keyed alike.
The mattress was purchased from Walmart. It has a cover with zipper, 60" wide by 80" long. The mattress has 5" of high density foam with 3" of memory foam. The original price of this mattress was $225.
5' x 8' in size
This camper is built on a used custom made frame. It was built for my mechanic to tow his motorcycles to Florida each year. The axle was moved for the build, the trailer was sanded, primed and then painted before adding the floor. At the time of the build the bearings were checked and greased.
The trailer has 13" whitewall car tires and comes with a spare. The spare was the best tire picked off of the original trailer and the vinyl cover was added to protect it from any sun damage. The tires have about 4,000 miles on them. New fenders were added along with baby moon hubcaps. Car tires allow for this smaller trailer to have a smoother ride than standard trailer tires.
The trailer has custom made light brackets and uses a four way flat connecter for towing. You need a 2" ball for towing. The trailer bumper is made of poplar wood.
This trailer weighs about 900lbs and has a tongue weight of about 90-100lbs. It is very easy to move, tows easy and straight. The teardrop trailer is registered in Ohio as a "home built trailer".
What a great way to learn how to build something!
I am currently working on another smaller travel trailer and find I am not using my teardrop anymore. This is a solid unit built with care.
The teardrop is finished with satin spar urethane. The sides are 1/2" oak and the top and hatch are 1/4" birch plywood. The trim(pine and polar) was primed and then painted to a satin finish. It is always garaged and never left outside in the elements unless I was towing or in camp.
Due to the spar urethane finish I would not recommend this camper to be stored outside unless you plan to use a waterproff/breathable cover. The camper's finish was chosen due to the access of a garage space.
This camper will allow you to plug into shore power if available. There is a GFCI outlet in the galley area and outlets in the cabin area.
The coupler uses a 2" ball, trailer wiring uses a four flat connector. The trailer weighs about 900lbs and the tongue weight is about 90-100lbs.
